From Brno for wine and knowledge

The wine trail passing through the vineyards of Velké Pavlovice is divided into western and eastern section. The western route begins in Židlochovice and continues to Rajhrad. Visitors have the opportunity to taste local, delicious, white wines of Müller-Thurgau, Veltlín or Tramín from the wineries in Rajhrad, Blučina, or Židlochovice. The monuments of Rajhrad monastery, with a memorial of written literature in Moravia, is worth visiting. As well as the archaeological complex of Cezava near Blučina. The Brno Wine Trail continues to the region of Kounice and Bránice, an area of excellent red wines and many attractive tourist destinations. In the valley of the Jihlava River you can find the ancient Dolní Kounice with the pilgrimage chapel of St. Antonin. The popularity of the town during the Medieval Ages represents the Rosa Coeli Monastery.

The Jihlava River runs alongside the Brno Wine Trail as you go south. In Pravlov, close to Dolní Kounice, the Brno Wine Trail joins the wine trail that leads to the region of Znojmo. The Brno Wine Trail continues through the natural park of Niva Jihlava to Pohořelice. The flat country with fertile black soil and regularly flooded forests is home to unique natural monuments. The town of Pohořelice is home to St. Jacob’s Church, with fresco painted during the 14th century. If you follow the quiet road and cross the unpaved terrain section close to the Vrkoč Pond, the trail takes you to the village of Ivaň, a crossroads of several cycling trails. You can take the Mikulov Wine Trail towards Strachotin to reach the monuments of Lednice-Valtice complex and the center of wine culture in South Moravia. Greenway Brno-Vienna leads to Austria.

The mostly flat western branch of the Brno Wine Trail ends after Vranovice, where it joins a wine trail leading to Velké Pavlovice.

The Eastern Branch of the Brno Wine Trail connects several smaller villages between Brno and the natural park, Ždánický les. To the southeast of Brno, there are small winemakers who make wine for their own needs. The quiet and well-maintained villages are worth visiting for their picturesqueness. Stronger cyclists can continue on the Velké Pavlovice Wine Trail, which connects to the Brno Wine Trail in Borkovany.
